This is our Tourboat, "The Dreamcatcher" coming into dock.
The London Bridge as we head down the channel out onto Lake Havasu
Approaching the California side of Lake Havasu. The big building in the midle is the Restaurant/Casino
Heading back from the docks towards the shops...Woo Hoo!
Now this place is very kewl. As I look out my MoHo window this morning, I see clear blue sky and although it's just 9:00 am, the temperature is already 21 C. Gonna be a nice one! One of the most interesting and popular lakes along the Colorado River, Lake Havasu is 45 miles long and boasts the historic London Bridge. With it's towering walls and archway it has stood here for more than 25 years. Beside it is an English Village that is filled filled with Tudor-style buildings and great shops (and I visited all of 'em) creating an atmosphere of Medieval England. Many visitors are surprised when they learn this is the original London Bridge and not a gimmick.

Here is it's history. For more than 140 years, London Bridge served as a crossing over the River Thames in London, England. It survived both world wars and a terrorist attack in 1884. So why did London want to remove such a significant landmark? And how did the London Bridge end up in Lake Havasu City, Arizona? Well, the Bridge began to sink into the River Thames and in 1968, the city of London decided to sell it for 2.5 million dollars to Robert P. McCulloch, founder of Lake Havasu City. It took 3 years and another 7 million dollars to dismantle, ship and rebuild the bridge. Now the London Bridge connects Lake Havasu City with an island in the lake. Kewl, huh?
Yesterday we are went on a boat tour to a casino on the California side. Had lunch there in a lovely retaurant hanging over the lake. It was a great time. The photos are above.
Tonight here at our resort, we'll be attending a Halloween Party. Looking forward to it. They have dinners every night (very reasonable) as well as breakfast if you so desire. (I desire a lot!) Weather continues to be hot and so this afternoon we are headed for the pool. Nice bunch of people here. Mostly Americans from the Northern States (although our neighbor ext store is from Conneticut), a lot of Californians (probably trying to escape the smoke). Not nearly as many Canadians as there were in Vegas. Met one fellow form Keremos this morning, and he is the only other Canuck we've met so far.
