We were so happy to have Wendy and Darren to celebrate Christmas with us. We ate, we drank, we laughed and then we ate some more. Good times!

IT'S A GIRL!

December 6, 2009

Mitzy's growing bigger everday. We had our first snowfall yesterday so it was her first introduction to *Snow* She had a ball!

HAPPINESS IS A WARM PUPPY

Our home is now complete with the pitter patter of puppy feet, complete with abundant butterfly kisses as an extra special treat. :D

Mitzy was welcomed into our hearts on November 21, at 7 weeks of age. A Shichon, (Shih Tzu X Bichon Frise), she was born right here in Grand Forks on October 4, 2009. We thought we's share some photos of our new little furry bundle of joy

2nd Annual Triangle Gardens Neighborhood BBQ

Last year we had the Neighborhood get-together in June. It was HOT! 36C (that's 97F for you American folk). This year we decided to have it later, September 13. Gotta be cooler by then, right? No such luck. Yesterday we went ahead with it anyway and the temperature reached 34.6! Oh well, takes less time for the burgers to cook on the Barby. ;D

It was a good time and because it was so hot, we were minus a few of the neighbors in the park, but 30 or so of us brave souls came out and crammed into any available shade. We had a good time, chatting and laughing. The burgers and dogs were delicious, and my neighbor accross the street contributed a roaster of home made baked beans....yumm. There was watermelon and a huge Black Forest Cake for dessert.

After supper we played a spirited game of Beanbag Toss, with prizes awarded to the winners. We may be "older", but we had lots of laughs playing this game.

We have some pretty great neighbors and we have a good time when we get together! :)

Church Picnic

It was a beautiful day for a Church Picnic held at our City Park. The temperatures were in the 80's F, but there was lots of gorgeous big shade trees that kept us cool.

There was BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs for the kids. Everyone brought a dish so there were lovely salads, side dishes and deserts to enjoy.

This is Mia, a friend's Yorkie that always reminds me of little Max from Tucson.

Lots of good conversation and company. Pictured here is my other half, Norm Grenier, Margaret and Harvey (our next door neighbors)

Our Parish Priest, Father Leandro, making his rounds, socializing. (Yellow shirt).

There were games for the kids and adults alike as well as raffle prizes. Ray and I only stayed a couple of hours because I was still suffering from a feed of renegade scallops from a couple nights ago and was still not feeling that well. So it was home to the AC and a little nap for us.

Guess Who's coming for Dinner?

Ray and I were having supper this evening, when we were joined outside by a Doe and her Fawn who decided to eat with us! They were chowin' down on the last of my Cherry Tomato Plant. We didn't mind; we'd eaten enough over the past few weeks to last us until next year.

It didn't take them long to finish the last of the 'maters off. :D

A little drink from our fountain, and they were off. See ya next time! :D

Catholic Couples Group - August 22, 2009

There are a few couples from our church, Sacred Heart in Grand Forks, that get together and meet every 2-3 months. We have visited other towns and had Brunch, Bowling, Christmas Party, etc. On August 22 we decided on a BBQ at one of the couples home. Dennis and Joyce have a lovely home on the banks of the Grandby River, about 12 km from the city. What a gorgeous setting. That Saturday was a little cooler than we had been experiencing so it was great to hang out and play a few lawn games, enjoy some cocktails and chat. We always have lots to laugh about and a good time was enjoyed by all.

Lovely pond fed from the river.

Caught Ray with a mouthful here. :)

Garden Tour Summer 2009

JULY 2009

It has been a challenging summer for growing plants and flowers because of the hot and dry weather so far this season. With temperatures hovering near the 100 degree mark for many days, hydrating my garden was a constant and daily necessity. Here are a few of my flowers that I am quite proud of. Hope you enjoy the tour. (Darcy, remember you urged me to do this one...)

Diasica... a lovely hanging basket of these Coral coloured blossoms welcomes visitors at the entrance of our driveway. One of my favourite annuals.
